SUV Collides With RIPTA Bus In Providence
13 people in total were taken to the hospital after an SUV turned left into a RIPTA bus in Providence.
PROVIDENCE, RI — An SUV collided with a Rhode Island Public Transit Authority bus on Monday, sending more than a dozen people to the hospital. Most of the injuries were not serious, the department reported.
According to WPRI, the crash happened on South Main Street near Power Street around 12 p.m. 13 people in total were taken to the hospital, WPRI continued, including both drivers and bus passengers.
A RIPTA spokesperson said the crash happened when the driver of the SUV tried to turn left from the right side of the street and drove right into the bus, according to the Providence police accident report.

"We take all accidents seriously and we are continuing our own internal investigation as well as cooperating with the police," RIPTA said in a statement. "Our concern is for anyone who may have been injured – whether it was our passengers, our bus operator or the driver of the other vehicle."
