Toddler, Teen Injured in Tuesday Night Shooting

Police have identified the 18-year-old victim as Christian Michaud of Providence.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Two people, a young child and a teenager, were injured in a shooting in downtown Providence late Tuesday night.

According to Providence police, the shooting happened on Pleasant Valley Parkway near Dean Street around 10 p.m. The victims were driving in their car at the time of the shooting.

The 18-year-old male victim has been identified as Christian Michaud of Providence. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he is in serious but stable condition. The toddler, a two-and-a-half year old boy, was injured in the foot and taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital, where he is reportedly doing well.

At this time, police say no arrests have been made and a motive for the shooting has not been determined.
