Town-By-Town Coronavirus RI Cases: Providence Cases Top 800

Providence has more than twice the number number of cases than Pawtucket, which has the second-highest concentration.

There were 278 new cases of coronavirus announced in Rhode Island Wednesday, bringing the state's cumulative total to 3,529. An additional seven deaths were announced, as well, for a total of 87.

The Rhode Island Department of Health launched their updated website Wednesday with updated figures and graphs with the latest data breakdowns for the state.

Although the number of cases in the state has been growing rapidly in recent days, Gov. Gina Raimondo said Rhode Islanders shouldn't be alarmed, both because there is widespread community transmission of the virus in the state and because the number of people being tested has dramatically increased in past weeks.
