A look inside the the Anthony P. Travisono Intake Service Center at the Adult Correctional Institutions.

The Anthony P. Travisono Intake Service Center is the first stop for most prisoners when they enter the Adult Correctional Institutions. It holds about 1,300 inmates at any given time and is home to pretrial detainees and newly sentenced inmates awaiting assignment to other facilities.

The maximum security facility is comprised of 16-module housing units, two of which serve as disciplinary units. It also contains a committing area, an infirmary, dining rooms, kitchen, visiting room and an administrative area.

The average inmate spends just 24 days here. About 120 inmates are sent to court every day and 50 inmates per week are processed and sent to other facilities. That means there is constant turnover within the intake center.
