Widespread Verizon Outage Reported Across Rhode Island
Verizon said the issue was corrected by late morning.
A widespread Verizon service outage was reported across Rhode Island Tuesday morning. Outage monitor Downdetector showed the outage covering nearly the entire state.
A spokesperson for Verizon said the issue was caused by a "fiber cut and hardware failure," which led to a service disruption. It was fixed and service restored by noon.
The website's outage graph showed a major spike in outages starting around 10 a.m., spiking from none to 512. The map, meanwhile, showed red, or a more severe outage, covering most of the state.
