Youth Singing Competition Coming To Warwick Mall May 18

Singers aged 13 to 19 are invited to compete in the Hand Me The Mic competition for a grand prize of $10,000.

WARWICK, RI — Grammy-nominated singer and Rhode Island native Jeffery Osborne is on the hunt for the state's next singing sensation through his youth singing competition, Hand Me The Mic. Anyone aged 13 to 19 is invited to compete in the second preliminary round of the competition on Saturday, May 18 at the Warwick Mall.

Anyone can audition during the open portion of the contest, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Auditions will be granted on a first-come, first served basis and songs must be no more than three minutes long.

On Saturday, three finalists will be selected to compete in the finals, which will take place on July 20 at the Warwick Mall. Those three contestants will be joined by the top three performers from the other two initial competitions, the first on April 27 and a third on June 22. Three of the ten semi-finalists will advance to the finals on July 28 at Twin River in Lincoln, where they will sing for Osborne and other celebrity judges.

The winner takes home $10,000 and will perform at the Jeffrey Osborne Celebrity Classic Gala, and will have the possibility of auditioning for "The Voice," "America’s Got Talent" and "American Idol."

The competition's first winner, Kay Kay Alexis of Nashua, New Hampshire, went on to compete in American Idol, making it to the final eight.
