About The Artists:

Alice Benvie-Gebhart “As an artist, Alice Benvie-Gebhart’s goal is to visually communicate using kiln-fired glass. She states that the fluid nature of melting glass adds an energy and organic feeling to her work. After she cuts the colored glass, layers it, then puts it in the kiln, the colors combine and it seems as if the glass is reborn. When she opens the kiln, a new creation comes from her mind’s eye AND the psyche of the glass and kiln is presented. “

Alice Benvie-Gebhart has her Bachelor and Masters degrees in Art Education with a concentration in painting and printmaking. She worked as a teacher and painter for many years before discovering fused glass. She now works in kiln-fired glass exclusively.

Nick Gebhart ”is interested in observing what he sees and then converting it onto the two dimensional surface using paint and brush. Through painting he pushes the technical aspects by creating a sense of reality. Nick uses photographs as reference and reinterprets that reality in his work. His main objective in every painting is to grab the viewer’s attention immediately. He does this through contrast in value and perspective.”

Nick Gebhart won Honorable Mention in 2012 at Newport Art Museum juried exhibition, Newport, RI and Best in Show at 2013 RI Open exhibition, Warwick Museum, Warwick, Rhode Island. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Painting from Rhode Island College and holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Painting from the New York Academy of Art in New York City.
