Boys LAX Win Last Regular Season Game Against Mt. Hope, 9-6
EGHS Boy's Lacrosse Team Enters Post-Season with 13-0 Division Record
The East Greenwich High School Boys Varsity Lacrosse team traveled to Bristol last Monday to face the Mount Hope Huskies for their last regular season game. The Huskies strategy of aggressive play proved challenging for the Avengers, who ultimately found their way to a 9-6 victory resulting in a 13-0 division record for the season for EG.
The Avengers lead the league in goals scored with 158 with only 66 goals against the team. Leading scorers for EG were Ethan Zink (45 goals/35 assists), Kyle Carosotto (40 goals/17 assists), and Ryan Trinque (26 goals/10 assists). Goalie Jack Trutza had a 60 percent save percentage and the team presented a strong defense led by the efforts of Connor Finn, Britt Conde, and Matt McBreen. Supporting the efforts were faceoff specialists Matt Cruise, Jack Payette, and Alex White.
“It’s nice to end the regular season with strong results, but it has been a long 15 games and the boys are tired,” said Coach Brian Trapani.

Heading to the quarterfinals, Trapani said the team has areas for focus, including shooting, making plays, and playing good team defense.
“Judging by today’s game, we really need to have the will to win as we enter the post season,” said Co-Captain Matt Cruise. Fellow Captain Ethan Zinc said the season thus far has been “a whole lot of hard work, persistence, and good mental attitude.” Co-Captain Kyle Carosotto noted that the team needs more solid play and team unification as it moves forward.
Looking to the future, Coach Trapani sees many good years ahead for the EGHS Boy’s Lacrosse team. “We’re mostly a team of juniors with strong freshmen and sophomores and the youth program does an outstanding job of getting players ready.”
The Avenger’s coach recapped the season with an eye towards the future: “East Greenwich Lacrosse is on the map and here to stay.”
Fans, family, and community members are encouraged to come out in support of the EGHS varsity lacrosse teams on Thursday, May 24th at home on Carcieri Field. The Lady Avengers will kick off post-season play at 4 p.m, with the Boy’s game scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Go Avengers!
