Confessions of a Real Mom: Laugh at Yourself
Mommyhood is full of peaks and valleys. When you are in the valley it's helpful to be able to laugh at yourself.

After I danced with my girls to Hoku’s song, “Perfect Day” from the movie Legally Blonde (and as Phil from Modern Family would say in a recent episode, “an excellent movie”) it was readily apparent I have not kept up with my Kegel exercises. Okay, I’ve never done them. Yes, I actually listen to this song jumping up and down in my kitchen. I hope all my neighbors see me and my girls having a blast.
I took a bite from my toddler’s corn dog and it was good ... really good.
I see a pattern of talking to complete strangers in checkout lines and it’s the most mature conversation I’ve had all day. Oh boy.

My 3-year-old repeatedly asks me, “Mom, are you talking to yourself?” Yes. Oh yes I am.
I think I am going to be super-intellectual from watching a recent Brian Williams Nightline (oh yeah I am not watching the Disney Channel even though I really like "Good Luck Charlie") episode about General Petraeus scandal. It’s the second to last story and I wasted 45 minutes of my precious mommy time waiting for it. I should have known better but really, it was 10 p.m. and I had nothing better to do than actually waste time – it's the bon bon of my life sometimes. I am not the better person for waiting and watching this story. Damn. It was worth a shot though, to be able to know a little of current events.

Cheering for Finn Hudson on Glee and wondering when Puckerman is going to come back. Clearly much of my present life centers around TV and the expected high I might glean from it. It always falls short of expectations.
Looking forward to seeing the movie Lincoln on opening weekend. The last time I saw a movie on opening weekend was in 2004. It was Harry Potter – maybe the second movie. Yes I am THAT cool and hip.
