Growing Up with Harry Potter

The end of a phenomenon

Admit it. You're still waiting for your Hogwarts letter too. Don't try to deny it. It's okay, I am too. I'm also one of those people who came two hours before my 12:01 showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. (It was amazing, by the way.) I'm also that person that will watch a movie over and over again.

So here I am, after my second viewing of Harry Potter 7 Part 2, still amazed. While we were waiting for the movie to start, my friend and I were joking around. I was telling her that 50 years from now, we're going to be THOSE people who sit around saying, "I remember when ..." And we'll go on and on about watching the midnight premiere. And 50 years from now, when the remakes have been made, and the effects are a million times better (gotta love that Basilisk from the 2nd movie), we're still going to remember Helena Bonham Carter's amazing performance as Bellatrix Lestrange or Voldemort's mysteriously missing nose. And I can't forget about the music. The music was incredible. :)

Even work has been more interesting just because of the Harry Potter references. Just recently, I was looked in the eye and told, "Help will always be given to those who ask for it" after asking for a ride home. Now, the majority of our conversation is about Harry Potter.

It's kind of amazng how far the Harry Potter phenomenon has spread. I heard someone say that we're the Harry Potter generation. And it's true. It's been 13 years. I've literally grown up with Harry Potter. Even now, I catch myself waiting for the new Harry Potter, only to realize everything is done. Leaving the theater after the midnight premiere, I passed people who were crying because it was all done. But, now that it's all done, I can't help but think what's next?
