Hello all you beautiful people!
So sorry to have not posted in the past - what - month? I blame school and finals and a little trip I took across the world. On June 23rd, while pretty much every student in East Greenwich was celebrating the fact that school was over (finally) - I was finishing packing and preparing myself for 17 hours in a plane. That's right: I was going to India.
Now, I know what you're saying. June 23rd? It's only July 5th. How is she back already? It was a short trip. A very short, very tiring, very hot trip. But very fun all the same. I got to touch an elephant (my second time!), eat off banana leaves, and spend time with my grandparents who I don't see as often as I'd like. We went on a short trip to some of the most important historic and religious sites in southern India - Mahabalipuram and Chidambaram among them. I drank coconut water - which is actually a pretty good defense against the heat. I "wet my feet in the Bay of Bengal" as my dad always reminds me.

Now the heat is something I've always had to live with when I go to India. Especially since the only time I go is in the summer. I really don't mind it that much. Thankfully, most of the heat has passed, as India's hottest month is May. However, we arrived smack dab in the middle of monsoon season. Which means humidity. A lot of humidity. Also, southern India was in the middle of a heat wave. Now a heat wave in Rhode Island is SLIGHTLY different than the ones in India. You can imagine how well that turned out. I survived though. My secret? Copious amounts of water, air conditioning, and my grandmother's food. Yum. :P
But now I am home (completely jet lagged), and find myself missing the heat, the food, the company, and the adventures. However, my other grandparents have come home with us and this will be an adventure in itself. :)
