The First Signs of Fall!

The leaves are JUST beginning to turn, which means its time for apple picking, pumkin picking and much much more!

Fall is here, finally! My favorite season! The weather has gotten chillier; I can finally drag out my favorite sweatshirt from the dark depths of the closet, and indulge in some new jeans. The leaves have just begun to show the merest interest in changing, and the apples are beginning to ripen.

There are so many exciting things to do in fall! Some of my favorites?

1. Apple picking at Narrow Lane Orchard: Somehow, store bought-apples can never compare with ones straight off the tree. Plus, my mom makes this fantastic homemade applesauce whenever we go apple picking, to use up the extras. Not to mention the fresh apple cider and donuts at many of the roadside farm stands!

2. Pumpkin Picking: It’s actually a sad story, I haven’t been pumpkin picking in some four-odd years. Of course, we picked them out at the bin at Stop and Shop, or Rochs Produce, but I can’t say I’ve been pumpkin picking since I’ve lived in Rhode Island, does anyone know a good place?

3. Corn Mazes: These are just about the funnest things I can think of to do with a group of friends. We always end up being “those kids,” howling with laughter, not being able to find our way out. I’ve heard, to find your way out of a maze, follow the right hand wall. Is this true? Or, wait. Is the left hand wall?

4. Airband, Spirit Week and Homecoming: The events that make EGHS exciting come fall. Homecoming, I’ve learned, is passé for juniors and seniors. Who knew? I’m just excited for Spirit Week (I plan on buying footie pjs for pajama day) and the Homecoming game. Let’s not forget the Tailgate Party before the game on Oct. 14!

5. Field of Screams: This is a repeat of the whole Awful Awful situation. I have not actually EVER been to Field of Screams. Somehow, last year, I was always busy when my friends went, but maybe it was just my subconscious effort to resist being scared. Because, if you know me, I do NOT do haunted houses. But hey, I should live a little, right? This year, I’ll do it.

What fun things do you like to do in fall?

Until next week!
