I have a very large disdain for the month of March. We adopt catchy phrases like, “In like a lion and out like a lamb,” to try and address this time of the year. However, they do nothing to disguise the fact that the lion is wet, cold, and muddy, and the apologetic lamb doesn't do much to warm – or cheer – us up.
It's unfortunate that there are no really excellent holidays in March, or even a day or two off school breaks. Now, on March 17, we do have a holiday centered around little green men and rainbows. Many people, mostly school guidance counselors, cling to Saint Patrick’s Day in order to get them through this long, soggy month.
I find that it's best to take up a hobby, like knitting, or reading every single one of the Harry Potter books for the fourth time. Sadly, however, I have had my yearly March hobby forced upon me. I have begrudgingly resigned myself to a two-and-a-half-hour SAT prep course every Saturday at CCRI. Today, we introduced ourselves and learned how to fill in answers on an answer sheet.

This year’s March will be especially unsavory, filled with endless vocabulary lists filled with words like “fodder” and “vanguard.” I do suppose that SAT vocab lists have become something of a rite of passage, and I have disparagingly resolved myself to nightly sessions with those evil little yellow flashcards.
Hopefully, your March hobby won’t be as sleep-inducing as mine!
