Tis The Season!

It's Christmas! Not that you could tell from looking at my house...

I have to admit, the Morley family is entirely Grinch-y this time of year. I suppose we are a bit Scrooge-like as well.

Why is this? We have no Christmas decorations. Not a tree, not an Elf on a Shelf, or any of those little glittery snowman snow globes. Not a single wreath or mistletoe, or light-up reindeer in the front yard. If you walked inside my house right now, there would be no indication that it was even December, let alone a week before Christmas. Well, except for the Santa pajama pants I recently bought at Old Navy. But those hardly count.

But before you gasp with horror and ban me from town, know that this is all for a reason. It’s just so much easier, because we go away for Christmas. There is no tree to clean up when we get home, no little Santa figurines to pack away and no Christmas Village to disassemble. Sure, it gets a little sad around the 20th of December, when you drive through town and you can see a Christmas tree or a menorah in the window. And then you return back to the dark Morley household, and its pitch black because you're me and forgot to leave a light on for yourself. So yes, it can get a little melancholy.

However, there is another upside to this travesty, other than the lack of cleanup.  Because we go down to Florida for Christmas, I get to see my Grandma, and not only that, but she has a tree! So don’t worry, on Christmas morning, I still get to open my presents underneath the tree. Or, well, next to it, considering it is only about 11 inches tall.
