Data Breach at Shaw's, Star Market in R.I.

Officials said there is no evidence yet that consumer data has been misused.

Hackers gained access to card information from customers of Shaw’s and Star Market in Rhode Island, officials announced Friday.

Albertsons, the parent company of the grocery chains, said the data breach affected stores all over the country—including all of New England.

“We know our customers are concerned about the security of their payment card data, and we work hard to protect it,” said Mark Bates, Albertsons’ senior vice president, in a statement. “It’s important to note that there is no evidence at this point that consumer data has been misused.”
