Elderly Coventry Woman Arrested for Shoplifting Groceries

Teresa D. Tortolani, 61, is accused of taking two creamers, a container of hot food, a pastry and a health and beauty item without paying.

EAST GREENWICH, RI — A 61-year-old Coventry woman is accused of shoplifting groceries at the Dave's in East Greenwich.

Teresa Tortolani allegedly went to the store on Dec. 11 around 2:50 p.m. and left without paying. Store employees took down her license plate and contacted police.

According to the police report, she took two creamers, priced at $3.69 each; a container of hot food, worth $10; a bakery item estimated to cost $8; and a health and beauty product priced at $14.

Coventry police were notified and served an arrest warrant at 7 p.m. on Dec. 13. East Greenwich officers picked her up at the Coventry P.D., and she was charged with shoplifting and given a court date.
