Drug Bust: State Police Stop Boston Man On I-95

Police allege they seized 1,002 oxycodone pills worth $30,000 in street value after a car stop on I-95.

WEST GREENWICH, RI — State police took 1,002 oxycodone pills out of circulation early Thursday morning at a car stop on I-95 in West Greenwich. That's where they arrested a Boston man on drug charges. They also say they seized a haul of pills worth an estimated $30,000 on the street.

Eston N. Tavares, 34, of Boston, was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance – oxycodone, state police said.

According to Capt. Derek Borek, the arrest followed a traffic stop in the northbound lanes of the highway.

"A further investigation by troopers resulted in the seizure of 1002 oxycodone pills with a street value of approximately $30,000," state police said.

Tavares was held overnight. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today in Third District Court.
