Come and meet baseball legend Wilma Briggs on Monday, March 31st at the annual meeting of the East Greenwich Historic Preservation Society. An East Greenwich native, Ms. Briggs will talk about her years as a professional left fielder in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League during the late 40s and early 50s. The team was the subject of a 1992 movie, "A League of Their Own" starring Tom Hanks and Geena Davis. Wilma batted left handed and threw right handed. Her name is enshrined in the Women in Baseball Display in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
