East Greenwich Police Step Up School Patrols After Beheading Threats

The threats were directed at students in Johnston, Cranston, and Warwick.

East Greenwich police said they will be vigilant after violent threats were made to local students this week.

The threats were directed at students in Johnston, Cranston, and Warwick. Police in those communities said they are posting extra officers and stepping up security.

“The safety and security of the children and our schools is always our priority and, as such, police patrols and presence will be increased as a precautionary measure,” East Greenwich police said in a statement. ”East Greenwich Police continue to monitor the situation and will communicate new information as appropriate.”

WHDH reported the threats were made in a handwritten note that said students would be “beheaded.” The FBI is investigating the matter.
