EG Cemetery Commission Launches Fall Cleanup Campaign

The newly formed East Greenwich Historical Cemetery Advisory Commission is rolling out a Fall Cleanup Campaign.

Autumn is fast approaching and that means shorter days, children back at school and cemetery cleanups.

“Autumn is a terrific time to rehabilitate East Greenwich historical cemeteries and the East Greenwich Historical Cemetery Advisory Commission invites the community to join us in this endeavor,” the commission said in a release.

The newly formed East Greenwich Historical Cemetery Advisory Commission is rolling out a Fall Cleanup Campaign with four dates to choose from, all on a Saturday, from 9-12: Sept. 27, Oct. 18, Nov. 15 and Dec. 6.

No specialized skills are required as the commission will provide the necessary training. In addition, the commission will provide documentation of community service hours performed upon request.

East Greenwich is home to 91 historic cemeteries. That means most EG residents live in walking distance to at least one.

The East Greenwich Historic Cemetery Advisory Commission was formed in December 2013. Its five members are appointed by the Town Council.
