EG Cross Country Teams Win Goddard Meet
The boys team had the top seven finishers; the girls had three in the top five
The Cross Country teams both score well at Monday afternoon’s group meet at . The Avengers ran against Hope and Classical high schools from Providence and Warwick’s Pilgrim High School.
The Boys team set off first and senior and captain Chris Millman finished first, with a time of 17:04. Juniors Scott Kulm and Ben Fazio came in right behind Millman, with times of 17:12 and 17:20 respectively.
Rounding out the top seven were junior Caleb Gladstone (18:09), sophomore Garrett Scanlon (18:15), junior Scott Marcus (18:22) and sophomore Nate Waddell (18:31).
“It was a good day for us,” said Millman. “We came into the race knowing we were going to do pretty well. We finished 1 through 7. That’s really good - that’s our whole varsity squad. I’m proud of what we did today. I didn’t expect to do that good.”
For the Girls, freshman Margaret McCaffery came in first, all alone with a time of 21:25. The Avengers clinched the third and fifth spots too - Tara Sidhu with 21:45 and Christine Sidhu with 21:54.
Lauren Smith, Hannah Tighe, Healey Bacon and Divya Mahadevan were the next to finish.

“I feel that the team did well today,” said captain and senior Smith. “We had four girls missing today, so that was tough.”
Still, Smith said, “I think everybody put in a good effort today. I think we worked well as a team.”
