EG Exit On Route 95 To Close Late Nights Starting Sunday

RIDOT announces closures to happen during highway upgrades.

RIDOT will close exit 8 in East Greenwich, along with Coventry exits 6, 6A and 7 on Rte. 95 north and south, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, starting this weekend.

The closings, according to a RIDOT release, will allow workers to resurface the areas. The restrictions last through October, affecting exits providing access to Coventry, East Greenwich, West Greenwich and West Warwick:  

  • Exit 6 (Mile 19) RI Route 3, West Greenwich; Coventry
  • Exit 6A (Mile 20) Hopkins Hill Rd., West Greenwich; Coventry
  • Exit 7 (Mile 22) New London Turnpike, Coventry; West Warwick
  • Exit 8A/8B (Mile 24) RI Route 2, West Warwick; North to Route 2 shopping malls; South to East Greenwich) (NOTE: No Northbound Exit 9, use Exit 8)

  • Sunday – Northbound: Exit 6 (Rte. 3) and Exit 6A; Southbound: Exit 7 and Exit 8.
  • Monday – NB: Exit 6A, 7 and 8; SB: Exit 6 and 6A
  • Tuesday – NB: Exit 7 and 8; SB: Exit 6 and 6A
  • Wednesday – NB & SB: Exit 6A and 7
  • Thursday – NB: Exit 7 and 8; SB: Exit 6 and 6A

The work is part of a $7.5 million contract with J.H. Lynch to resurface 6.6 miles of I-95 in southern Rhode Island.
