You would never know the Avengers had the upper hand going into the second half; two minutes in the captain duo dazzled the defenders with Mason feeding Buckheit who rattling the back of the cage. Two minutes later Canaan LeBlanc connected with Buckheit for her 4th goal of the evening.

With plenty of time left in the game LeBlanc patiently waiting at the post, tucked a Kayla Santos shot behind the Wheeler goaltender to give the Avengers their final goal. Senior Kate DePietro had one clear while defending the Avengers goal in the second half.
Lindsey Buckheit felt the team had a great game. As a senior, Buckheit and her fellow senior teammates knew if they didn't win this would be their last high school field hockey game of their career and none of them were prepared to let that happen, so they went out to win. Buckheit finished with four goals and two assist.
Coach Deb McMullen had nothing but praise of senior captain Tracey Mason's level of play. She is smart and unselfish; it is amazing to see her give up goals by passing to a teammate.
This is a good group of seniors, they have been together since ninth grade and they have worked hard to make a name for themselves said McMullen.
McMullen said the team will match up against Moses Brown on Wednesday night at Carcieri Field at 7:45 pm. Moses Brown is the team the Avengers fear the most, they are a good passing team and very well coach.
The Moses Brown coach works with the state Lead the Way Program, which many of the East Greenwich girls participate, so the coach knows the Avengers strength and weaknesses and how to adapt her coaching to benefit her team's play.
Girls soccer senior night
The East Greenwich Girls Soccer Team celebrated their seniors in grand fashion at Carcieri Field Monday night with a 7-0 victory over North Kingstown. Ending their regular season with a 15-2-1 record in Division I South, the Avengers will move onto the post-season.
Seniors Cara Nunez and Kiley Powers were honored by their teammates during half-time.
Although sidelined all season with an injury, Cara's teammates praised her for being the "backbone of the Lady Avengers as she not only lead from the sidelines, but pushed, encouraged and guided from behind the scenes."
Kiley was recognized as a "team player with her 15 assists as well as her game winning goal against South Kingstown last year." Teammates said Kiley was the "playmaker" and her "readiness to play is contagious."
Skylar LeBlanc posted a hat trick on the evening with Megan Greineder scoring twice with two assists; both Jen McKenzie and Sam VanWinter netting a goal a piece with VanWinter also gaining two assists; Kiley Powers, Sarah Beaulieu, and Carolyn Cruise tallied an assist each.
Goaltenders Kaylee Sullivan had four saves and Alex Place had 6 saves on the evening.
