EG Youth Lacrosse Team Wins State Championships

The East Greenwich 7th/8th grade competitive boys youth lacrosse team recently captured the RI Youth Lacrosse League state championship.
By all accounts, this team had a dream season ending up with a 13-0 record in league and non-league play. They racked up 146 goals for the season with just 21 goals scored against. The midfield unit dominated the face-offs winning 80% and the attack unit scored an incredible 90 goals. The defensive unit was very strong allowing just 1.6 goals per game, including 4 shutouts and three games where the opponent scored just 1 goal.
In the semi-finals, EG defeated Island Youth(Middletown/Jamestown/Newport) by a score of 13-1. EG then played a near flawless game in the finals against CLCF(Cranston),jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter en route to a 13-0 win. This was a great season for the 8th graders who played on lteh 2009 team where they reached the championship game before falling to an undefeated East Bay(Barrington/Bristol/Warren) team by a score of 6-3.
