EGAPL Launches Capital Campaign for New Shelter
The East Greenwich Animal Protection League, still in need of a permanent home, has launched a capital campaign to pay for a new facility.

The East Greenwich Animal Protection League, still in need of a permanent home, has launched a capital campaign to pay for a new facility.
The target is $100,000 and so far, thanks to a generous donation by the Weiss family, they’re off to a $25,000 start. But they need a lot more support from the community at large to make their dream of a new facility a reality.
“We have been searching for a building for some time now and we have finally found one! It will be a place where our shelter animals can rest comfortably while they wait to be adopted to their forever homes,” their campaign description on Tilt.com reads. “We save hundreds of animals’ lives every year from high-kill shelters and we also take in stray, turn-in or unwanted animals from our community. You can be a part of helping us save lives by helping us make our dream of a new facility into a reality! ”

The search for a new home started earlier this year after EGAPL was forced to move from its longtime home at Greenwich Bay Animal Hospital due to increased rates and outgrowing that facility.
In March, EGAPL moved to East Greenwich Animal Hospital at 4302 Post Road, but that move was always considered a temporary step towards the ultimate goal of finding a permanent home.
