EGLL 8-Year-Old Friendship Team Wins Tournament
A highlight of the tournament was a perfect game pitched by a team of three EG pitchers.
The East Greenwich Little League 8-year old boys are champions of the Central Coventry Summer Baseball Tournament.
On Saturday night they defeated South Kingstown American 12-2 in 4 innings to bring home the title. Three East pitchers combined on a 2-hitter and the boys mounted a 15-hit attack on their way to the rout. East put up three runs in the first inning and 5 more in the second and never looked back.
The victory improved their record to 7-0 in the tournament as they outscored their opponents by a combined 69-7 while pounding out 83 hits to only 10 for their opponents. Seven East Greenwich pitchers combined to allow only three earned runs in the seven games. Also, the boys played outstanding defense, committing only 6 errors in the entire tournament.

One of the tournament highlights was a 14-0 victory over host Central Coventry in the seeding round in which three East pitchers combined to throw a perfect game – a rarity at any level of baseball.
