Five From EG Complete Amica Ironman Triathlon

Richard Prior and Leonora Delsesto are first male and female finishers from town.

Five EG residents competed in and completed the Amica Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island race on Sunday. All five finished in less than 7 hours.

The 70.3 mile course started at Olney Pond in Lincoln Woods State Park with a 1.2 mile swim, switched to bikes for a 56-mile ride through northwest Rhode Island into Providence, for a 13.1-mile circuit through the city.

The first place finisher from EG was Richard Prior, who finished with a time of 5:42:49, placing 444th overall and 66th in the Male 40-44 age group.

The next finisher was Richard Delsesto, who finished with a time of 5:46:18, placing 483rd overall and 76th in the Male 40-44 age group.

Following up Richard, was his wife Leonora, who finished with a time of 6:10:23, placing 725th overall, and finishing 30th in the Female 40-44 age group.

Next was Beth Rodewig, who finished the race with a time of 6:10:37, finishing 727th overall and 20th in the Female 45-49 age group.

Finally, , finished with a time of 6:12:12, placing 742nd overall and placed 10th in the Female 50-54 age group.

The overall winner of the race was 27-year-old David Kahn from Port Jefferson, New York. Kahn finished the race in 4:00:52.
