The Avengers rallied in the fourth quarter Saturday to defeat the Burrillville Broncos 13-7. The battle was tightly contested through the whole game, with few big plays and great defensive stops.  

Carney Crawford scored a touchdown in the first half, giving the Avengers a 6-0 lead.

The Broncos pulled ahead in the fourth quarter, 7-6 on a 49-yard touchdown pass. Undaunted, East Greenwich marched down the field with a balanced attack. Crawford continued to eat up yards on the ground, and Andrew Miner spread the ball around through the air to several receivers, including Kyle Palmer and Kevin Mason.

A touchdown pass from Miner to Karl Lebovitz gave the Avengers a 12-7 advantage, and Alex Cleary added the extra point to extend the lead to 7 points. Cleary and Crawford also provided sensational interceptions to end drives for Burrillville.

This road victory showcased the toughness and resiliency of the Avengers, along with a balanced attack that can keep opponents on their heels.

The Avengers are now 2-0 in the division. On Thursday, EGHS learned that - had to forfeit its victory over the Avengers due to an ineligible player. Their next game is against Middletown Friday night at home.
