Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Warwick Showcase Event & Fundraiser

On October 7th, 2017, Fred Astaire Warwick’s talented team of dancers, (both professional and student alike), presented the audience with a captivating showcase of choreographed ballroom, latin, and show dance routines to songs from favorite musicals. This event is traditionally held once a year and is known to be a night filled with good fun, great food, and fantastic dance entertainment. Not wanting to stop there, the Fred Astaire Warwick Team felt the pull to give something back to the community, and decided to give a portion of the ticket sales to hurricane relief efforts.

There have been many natural disasters recently, the effects of which continue to impact the US and surrounding countries. Why did “Team Warwick,” as they are affectionately called, choose Puerto Rico? It was personal; one of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio’s own instructors has family that lives there and was significantly affected by Hurricane Maria. The choice to donate, although emotional, was an easy one.

There has been much difficulty distributing supplies to those that need it most, but thankfully, the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Warwick was able to connect with the relief organization Puerto Rico Rises, (through that same instructor’s father), who is using his business as a drop off point, and will personally deliver necessities to the areas of Puerto Rico hit the hardest.

In accordance with requests from Puerto Rico Rises, the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Warwick was proud to contribute the following items: disinfectant wipes, exam gloves, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, baby formula, diapers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, trash bags, dog food, soap, and deodorant.
