Free Boating Education Seminars At West Bay Yacht Club

Weekly events into March will get you ready for the sailing season.


, located next to McKinley’s Pub at 1 Division St. in East Greenwich, hosts free seminars targeted for boating enthusiasts. These seminars are open to the public so even if you are not member, we welcome you to join us!

Splicing Seminar, Thursday, Feb. 9: Splicing a boat line is something that every boater should be able to do. You can buy lines that already have an eye spliced, but that limits you to pre-cut sizes. They are also more expensive then doing your own, 7 p.m.

Beginner’s Sewing, Saturday, Feb. 18: Whether it’s for upholstery repair or for cutting down or altering sails, sewing can come in handy for all boat owners. Bring your own sewing machine. Come learn how! 10 a.m.

Knots Seminar, Thursday, Feb. 23: Is your knot tying a bit rusty, or have you never been taught the basic knots? We’ll show you the different types of knots, when to use them, and how to make them! 7 p.m.

Advanced Sewing, Saturday, March 3: If you already know how to sew but need to brush up or see how to apply your skills to boating, come join us!  Bring your own sewing machine.  Please note that some fees may apply to cover cost of materials. 10 a.m.
