It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Luckily, Patch is coming to the rescue with the best bets for how to spend your free time. Check out our picks for the local activities to hit and places to explore.

Put your teams of four together and head on over to Harbourside Lobstermania on Sunday to race canoes and help Special Olympics Rhode Island. Don’t worry if you don’t have your own canoe. The boats are provided. Don’t feel like paddling? It’s sure to be fun to watch, as well.

Why Go: Kids who’ve been taking sailing lessons over the summer will get to show their folks the skills they’ve picked up at the first Parents Race Night to be followed by at BBQ on the EG Yacht Club deck.

Why Go: Besides beautiful balloons, the event features music, a catch & release pond, pony rides, a petting zoo, amusements, crafters, a pizza grilling contest, and fireworks on Saturday night.

Why Go: Kids of all ages, but especially those 3-12, will be delighted by the songs and stories of Keith Munslow, this week’s free program brought to you by EG Parks & Rec.
