Girls Track Places 6th, Boys Finish 25th at States
Numerous Avengers shined individually at the RIIL State Outdoor Track and Field Championships last Saturday.
Boys and girls varsity outdoor track and field teams competed in the state finals last Saturday and several members qualified for the New Englands this weekend.
The girls team ran exceptionally well as they finished sixth in the state and they also had a number of girls earn All-State honors during their events. Although the boys team did not do as well as they had hoped for, with 25th place, numerous runners and throwers placed on the state level.
The girls 4-by-400 meter relay team made up of Mikayla Baiocchi, Jaimee Dorsey, Rebecca Nunez, and Allie Davis raced to first place in their relay event, which means they all are now first team All-State in the 4x4. They shocked Lasalle Academy as they edged out their relay team by six-tenths of a second to earn first in the state with a time of 4 minutes, 4.2 seconds.
