EAST GREENWICH, RI—Gloridays 2017 was billed as "not just a walk for Gloria Gemma" but also a "weekend journey of friendship, compassion and support."On Friday afternoon, the walkers had not yet arrived but Celebration Village was set up with pink tents, and a few of the participants were playing lawn games. The annual breast cancer walk has two editions. Participants walk either 44 miles over three days, or log 24 miles over two days through Warwick, East Greenwich and North Kingstown. More than 200 people and volunteers were expected for the June 2-4 event, which culminates Sunday at 10 a.m. for “Celebration Mile,” the final mile when families, friends and supporters walk with participants and then at the noon “Closing Ceremony.”
Rain was coming, but Goddard Park was humming with all kinds of activity on Friday. People went out in boats. They rode horseback. They golfed. They went to the Farmers' Market. Everything wasn't about the Gloridays, but a lot of people were congregating near the Celebration Village.
