Five things you need to know about East Greenwich today, July 13.

Magical History Tour: Board the Parks & Recreation bus and join Bob Houghtaling on free tours of historic places in Rhode Island. The first tour is today; the second tour takes place next Wednesday. Meet at 9am on Peirce Street in front of the Varnum House for a tour of the museum, then head up to Providence for tours of the First Baptist Church and the State House. The tour will end with pizza back in East Greenwich. The event wraps up by 3pm.

Historic District Commission meeting: Among the agenda items is a discussion of the historic resources referenced in the town’s , which is currently being revised. The meeting begins at 7pm at Town Hall. You’ll find the agenda attached at right.

Ribbon cutting at Norton's Marina: Eight years in the making, Norton's Marina is at last connected to the EG sewer line. A ribbon-cutting to mark the event will be held at 4:45pm at Norton's with town officials, Governor Lincoln Chafee and others scheduled to attend.

Northerbee’s Auction: You’ll find the Northerbee’s Auction every Wednesday at the American Legion hall on Main Street. The preview is at 5pm; the auction begins at 6pm.

Animals at the Library: The EG Free Library hosts animal guy David Marchetti as part of its Summer Reading Program. Animal Experiences is a hands-on experience with live turtles, snakes, lizards, and more. Children ages 4 to 12 are particularly invited to attend. It’s free! From 6:30 to 7:30pm.
