After losing to Prout on Friday the Lady Avengers rebounded Tuesday night against Rogers with a 57-47 victory. The victory was the result of a strong team defensive effort and superb senior leadership.
Coach Matt Records described the Rogers team as “very big” and this was no understatement as the Rogers squad consisted of many large and highly athletic players.
This, however, did not hinder senior captain Kiley Powers in the slightest as she dropped in a whopping 29 points.

Humble as always, Powers had nothing but praise for her team.
“It was a team effort and everyone helped to make this win a possibility," she said. "I am very proud of and happy for our team.”

Kiley was assisted throughout the night by senior Leah Settipane who contributed 13 points as well as having many key blocks on defense. Leah was very ecstatic about the win, saying, “This was a great win and I hope it will carry on to the next game.”
The game started off slow for the Avengers with Rogers quickly taking an early lead. However, Settipane helped get the ball moving knocking down an early 2 points and from then on the avengers aggressively pursued Rogers before taking the lead to go up 22-19 at the half.
From then on, Powers lit up, draining shot after shot with offensive support from Tracy Mason, Karen Lockhart, Marielle Kraft, and Natalie Higham. On the other side of the court, outstanding defense from sophomores Keri Pallister and Ashley Rivera as well as from Leah Settipane helped to keep the Rogers offense from getting back in the game. In the end, The Lady Avengers pulled away from Rogers in order to secure a well deserved 57-47 victory.
