Lucky East Greenwich Man Wins Big in Lottery

The father of three said he's going to use the money to pay college tuition bills.

If you see Samuel Dumas of East Greenwich around town, be sure to offer him some congrats.

And maybe he’ll buy you a cup of coffee. If he’s feeling generous, there’s no wonder: he won just claimed a recent $134,167 Wild Money jackpot from the Rhode Island Lottery.

Dumas realized he won Friday morning when he sat in front of his computer and checked the numbers for Thursday night’s drawing.

Dumas opted for a quick pick ticket and the five numbers matched: 15-21-23-25-27. Jackpot!

Dumas was terribly excited, but he managed to keep the win a secret from his family for a little while. It turns out it was his son’s birthday and the family planned to celebrate over the weekend.

In the end, the birthday weekend was quite a celebration.

The money will be used to pay for his three children’s college tuition, the Rhode Island Lottery commission said in a release.

Dumas bought the ticket from Big River Sprits in West Greenwich.

It didn’t take long for the Wild Money jackpot to get hit again on Saturday. A $20,000 ticket sold at J B Liquors in Woonsocket has yet to be claimed.
