Mailbox Vandals, Missing iPhone, and Stolen Freezer

Tuesday, July 5

6:43am - A resident came to the station with a wallet that they had found while walking on Post Road. The owner of the wallet was notified and later came to retrieve it. 

11:44am - A resident reported that he had experienced identity fraud. He told police that he went to his bank and found out that someone had taken out an auto loan using his name and social security number. The victim will be forwarding more information to the police as he finds out more. 

4:25pm - A man was cited for driving a vehicle with an expired registration and expired registration sticker. The vehicle’s license plates were seized and the vehicle was towed without further incident. 

8:48pm - A woman was cited for driving with a suspended license and for driving a vehicle without an inspection sticker on it. The license plates were seized and the vehicle was towed without further incident. 

Wednesday, July 6

6:11am - A resident reported that his mailbox had been damaged with what appeared to be a large rock between the hours of 11pm 5am. It was also noted that the resident noticed that the hub cap from his son’s vehicle was also knocked off.  

10:14am - An owner of a business reported that the front window of his store had been broken with a flat rock that was found inside the building. No other damage was found. 

12pm - A resident came to the station to report missing license plates. The resident said that his vehicle had been sitting at a car dealership since December waiting for repair and he just found out two days ago that the dealership accidentally “junked” his car. He does not know if the plates were on the car or not. 

12:26pm - A resident notified police that her mailbox and the post it was on had been damaged with a large rock sometime during the night or early morning hours. 

Thursday July 7

1:07am - A resident walked in to report that his iPhone 4 was missing after he had attended a gathering with friends. 

5:05pm - A resident reported that he had had several checks and cash stolen from his pants pocket which had been hanging in an unsecured locker at the gym. 

6:40 - The employee of a local ice cream store reported that he had left a freezer outside the rear of the store overnight for some maintenance and cleaning. Upon returning to the store in the morning, the freezer was gone. He said it would take at least three people to move the freezer. It is valued at $7,000. 

Friday, July 8

12:44pm - A resident reported that a two- three-foot-long arrow had landed five feet from him while he was in his yard. His concern for safety increased when he saw his neighbor shooting arrows with what appeared to be a high-powered bow. Police got ahold of the neighbor and informed him of the guidelines for discharging a bow in his yard. 

12:51pm - A woman reported that her unlocked car had been robbed. Among the items reported taken were her purse, her wallet, her checkbook, her social security card, her daughter’s prescription pills, a GPS device and two cell phones. Her laptop computer and a credit card, both in the car, were not taken. 

7:24pm - A school custodian reported that a rock had been thrown in one of the school’s windows. The custodian told police that he had seen two teenagers run away into the woods. 

Saturday, July 9

2:12am - Police responded to a report of an intoxicated man stumbling around. Upon arrival, police noted that the man was bleeding from his head. The man’s wife arrived at the scene and stated that she had been looking for him. She proceeded to take him home without further incident. 

11:02am - A resident reported that he found empty beer cans in the front bushes in front of his house.

11:35am - A resident reported that his Swedish flag was missing from its mount on the right hand side of his garage. 

Sunday, July 10

1:05pm - A West Warwick man was cited for driving an unregistered vehicle after police clocked him at 51mph in a 25 mph zone. The vehicle was towed from the scene without incident.
