NEIT Unveils $120m EG Campus Expansion Plans
Dorms, expanded classroom spaces, a student dining area and much more are part of the major expansion project.

The New England Institute of Technology has formally announced plans for a $120 million expansion project at its East Greenwich campus on the heels of receiving preliminary approval from the town’s Planning Board recently.
The plans include more than 300,000 square feet of new facilities, a 400-room on-campus dorm, expanded classroom space with expanded IT capabilities, a new dining area for students and a “green” open space area along with infrastructure improvements to the 226-acre campus as a whole.
“This is an exciting day for New England Tech. This is the 2nd phase of our $250,000,000 campus development program in East Greenwich. This expansion will allow us to offer on-campus housing for the first time in our college’s 75 year history,” said NEIT President Richard I Gouse. “We will also be expanding our information technology’s facilities to more than 300,000 square feet. This will make us the region’s largest provider of collegiate level technology driven training. These changes will also allow our college to offer new and expanded degree granting programs in such related areas asinformation technology, advanced manufacturing, health sciences, architecture, engineering, video/audio production.”

The project marks the continued growth of the school, which has for years been synonymous with career training here in Rhode Island. But in recent years, the school has made huge strides to define itself as a full fledged institution of higher learning. Adding dorms is a clear sign that the school is becoming more than a commuter school and is attracting students from a region far wider than just Rhode Island.
