After owning and operating Kenneth Cote' Salon at 333 Main Street for more than 40 years, I am proud to announce that I have joined the Shimmer Salon &amp; Day Spa team at 500 Main Street in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Following a series of surgeries and recoveries, along with the loss of my longtime administrative coordinator and dear friend, Richard Bump, I found myself at a point of reflection and transition. I made the decision to redirect my career from salon ownership toward something that has always been at the center of who I am: continuing to cultivate my craft as a Hair Artist and educator. As I return to Main Street, my intention is simple: to reconnect with the skills, creativity, and level of care that built my reputation over decades, while offering you the opportunity to reimagine the experience and quality I can bring to your sense of style. I have always taken pride in helping clients leave with a greater understanding of their hair than when they first sat in my chair. Hair has never simply been about appearance; it has always been about connection, education, and trust. After years of experience, one thing remains unchanged: every service begins with a pair of ears before a pair of shears. Life has brought its share of challenges over recent years — personal loss, physical setbacks, and significant change. Those experiences have reshaped me, but they have also clarified something important: I am returning to the place where I truly belong. After nearly five decades in this industry, I am not stepping backward into who I once was; I am stepping forward as who I am today — a distilled version of those years of experience, with greater focus, stronger purpose, and a deeper appreciation for what matters most. It's really true: Jiggers is coming back. New owners Steve and Karie Head have been working on the Main Street diner since taking ownership a month ago and they hope to open in August. Karie, a physical therapist by trade, knows the diner business from her time at Oatlies in North Kingstown, which she owned with her ex-husband. She went back to PT after the divorce but missed cooking. "One of the food service reps that I'd been working with for a long time told me that this had foreclosed," Karie said, referring to Jiggers. "Steve and I went to Centreville Bank and put in a bid and they took it," Karie said, referring to her current husband, Steve Head, a Newport police officer. "Although it did take us seven months to close on it. We had to put a new water line in and a lot of scenarios came up." They've got a website, <a href="http://www.hillandharbourdiner.com/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">hillandharbourdiner.com</a>, and are working on getting the place ready to open in August. "The food will be very similar to what she did before," Karie said, referring to former owner Iva Reynhout. "We did a lot of homemade stuff before, johnnycakes ... I grill-cooked it all myself." She said, "I'm super excited about it."
