Anne Elizabeth (Burns) Alexander, a long-time resident of East Greenwich, died Wednesday the 4th of June at Kent County Hospital.

Anne Elizabeth (Burns) Alexander, a long-time resident of East Greenwich, died Wednesday the 4th of June at Kent County Hospital.

Anne was born in 1923 in Providence RI, daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Clarke) Burns. Anne graduated from Saint Xavier’s Academy and was the beloved wife of 49 years of the late John F. Alexander, Jr. Anne worked for US Rubber and Hood Ice Cream and was the past president of AARP RI and served on numerous civic boards and committees for the Town of East Greenwich.

Anne was an active volunteer and worked tirelessly in her community. She was also a long-time communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church. Anne was predeceased by her siblings: Marie, Dorothea, Joseph, Francis and John. Anne is survived by her three sons John, his wife (Donna) and their children Sarah, Brooke, John, Grace and Mercy of Merritt Island Florida, Joseph and his children Laurie and Joseph of Ledyard Connecticut and Paul and his wife (Christine) and their daughters Claire and Paige-Marie of Mansfield Massachusetts.

Anne is the Great Grandmother of 11. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 10th at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, East Greenwich. Calling hours: Tuesday, June 9th 5-8PM at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich.
