Obituary: Elizabeth (Smegiel) Cosgrove, 89

Elizabeth (Smegiel) Cosgrove, 89, of East Greenwich, RI, Naples, Florida and formerly of Danielson, CT passed away at home Wednesday July 1st.

She was the wife of Edward, a marriage of 66 wonderful years. She was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine Smegiel and sister of the late Antonia, Edward and Henry Smegiel. Elizabeth was the mother of Steven Cosgrove and Laurie Riester, both of New Hampshire. She also is the grandmother of John Reister of Rhode Island and Kaitlyn Reister of Boston, Massachusetts. She was also the mother-in-law of Candace Cosgrove and former mother-in -law of Dr. Fred Riester.

Her love for the children and grandchildren and grandchildren could not be measured. Elizabeth was caring and compassionate, and good fortune allowed her to be a very generous person. She was Vice President and Treasurer of Thingamajigs, a gift company in Connecticut and Maine. She also used her talent in the real estate business, both buying and selling. She developed life long friends especially their birthdays, weddings, none went by without some kind of celebration. She will be missed by all. She was a special woman to all who knew her.

Her funeral is Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. from “WOODLAWN” Funeral Home 600 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Gregory the Great Church, Cowesett Avenue, Warwick, RI. Burial will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. CALLING HOURS Monday 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Kent Count Hospital Wound Care Center, Warwick, RI.
