Obituary: Harry C. Cookson Jr., 88

Cookson, a plumber who was born in East Greenwich, served in the Navy during World War II and was an EG volunteer fireman.


Harry C. Cookson Jr. died Sunday, Sept. 2. He was 88 years old. He was the husband of the late Jeanne R. (Arel) Cookson and son of the late Harry Sr. and Florence Cookson. He was born in East Greenwich.

Cookson was a plumber for Local #51 and worked for the former Howard Benson Plumbing. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a EG Volunteer Fireman, and was an avid woodworker.

He is survived by his daughter, Jane Huddle; grandson Stephen J. Huddle and wife Sara; and two great grandchildren.

Calling hours are Thursday, Sept. 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hill Funeral Home. Committal prayers with military honors will be Saturday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m. at the R.I. Veterans Cemetery Columbarium Chapel in Exeter.
