Obituary: Neil E. Argraves, 72

Neil E.Argraves, 72, of East Greenwich, died at home on December 30, 2014.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Andrea C. (Chase) Argraves; sons, Phillip M. and Randall C. Argraves; 4 grandchildren; and a sister, Maxine Stover. He was the son of the late of the late Emery E. and Fern (Buck) Argraves.

He was born on August 11, 1942 in the back room of a small farmhouse in Medford, Maine. After graduating from Milo High School in Milo, Maine, he spent four years in the Navy in the South Pacific. Was part of the Formosa Patrol Force and was in the Tonkin Gulf when the Vietnam War broke out. He later went to Husson College in Bangor, Maine.

After graduating, he worked for Mobil Oil Corporation out of Boston, covering sales in the northeast part of Massachusetts. He later became an insurance adjuster with the Travelers Insurance Group, leaving there to join the home office of Allendale Insurance as an examiner.

In 1980 he and his wife started a new company called Casualty Consultants, Inc. Neil later wrote an insurance technical book which became a Best Seller in its field for a while, then wrote a number of novels and papers; ‘The Retirement Papers’, ‘Destruction of Haunting’, ‘On Window Lake’, ‘Blessed Letters’, ‘Neil’s Short Stories’, and many more letters of family, life and living for his library and for newspapers.

After a long and successful career with Casualty Consultants, Inc. he retired to East Greenwich, RI with his wife. We all wish his wife of so many years the very best as she was the pillar of his life. His funeral service will be Monday, January 5th at 11:00am at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. Burial with military honors will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Calling hours: Sunday, January 4th 4-6pm.
