Yolanda P. Tarantino, 86, of 159 Division Street, East Greenwich, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014.

Yolanda P. Tarantino, 86, of 159 Division Street, East Greenwich, a retired office manager and civic leader, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence.

She was the loving wife of the late Anthony Tarantino. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Francesco Garofalo and Concetta (Sasso) Garofalo. Yolanda was an office manager at Elmwood Sensors, a purchasing representative for Imperial Knife, and an administrative assistant at Metropolitan Insurance Company. For many years she served as a State Democratic Committee Woman and was active in local politics and in a variety of civic and charitable organizations. She was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Providence and St. Matthew Church in Cranston where she served on many parish committees.

he leaves two sons, John A. Tarantino of East Greenwich and David P. Tarantino of Cape May, New Jersey, three daughters, Annette T. Burke of Jamestown, Toni M. Deion of Cranston and Lisa A. Foss of Solon, Maine, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Frank, Leo, Joseph, Bart (Bartolomeo) Garofalo, Mary Malardo, Rose DiGiacomo, Josephine Massimini, Antonetta Garofalo and Vincenza Garofalo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday November 8th, at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours: Friday November 7th, 4-7PM at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 in her memory would be appreciated.
