Playground Fundraiser Brings “Christmas in July”
Snow in Warwick, Fun and Sun in Narragansett, Country Music in Town, and More

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Luckily, Patch is coming to the rescue with the best bets for how to spend your free time. Check out our picks for the local activities to hit and places to explore.

The Impossible Dream organization invites everyone to celebrate "Christmas in July" on Saturday. On this special day, the innovative playground will be turned into a winter wonderland with "snow" games for children and the hall will be transformed into a shopper's paradise. "Christmas" arts and crafts, as well as a "Christmas" menu, will be available to kids of all ages.

All of the day’s proceeds will benefit the “dream” program and Rhode Island’s first integrated playground that was designed to be play-friendly for children of all physical abilities.

Why Go: You won’t want to miss it when Frosty the Snowman arrives in an antique fire truck!

Where/When: Narragansett Town Beach, 77 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett, RI; Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: A day full of fun, sun and water events aimed to raise awareness of ocean and sun safety is in store for beach-goers at this first annual outing.
Pricing: $40 Registration for the 3-mile Open Ocean Paddle

Why Go: Our local American Legion Post has lots of live music playing weekly, including performances every Saturday from Babs & Merll, daughters of the legendary RI rockabilly star Eddie Zack. You don’t have to be a member to come and kick your heels up!

Where/When: ; Friday, 12 p.m.
Why Go: Hopefully, you bought your tickets by last week’s deadline for the big senior event of the summer because space is limited to 100 people. If so, lots of fun, including entertainment from The Providence Civic Orchestra of Senior Citizens, is in store for the afternoon.

5. PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT
Where/When: ; Friday, 1:30 to 2:15 p.m.
Why Go: The kids need to be entertained, too, and they will be by the Toe Jam Puppet Band.
