Police Chief Asks for New Stop Sign after Traffic Study

A traffic study showed that another stop sign at the intersection of Granite and Stone Ridge Drives is warranted, the chief said.

A new stop sign could be coming to the curvy Y-shaped intersection of Granite and Stone Ridge Drives.

East Greenwich Police Chief Col. Stephen Brown said in a memo to Town Manager Thomas E. Coyle III that a recent traffic study showed that another sign at the intersection is warranted.

As it stands, there are signs at the intersection making it a two-way stop for Granite Drive at Stone Ridge Drive and Stone Ridge Drive in an easterly direction at Granite Drive.

Brown is recommending that another sign be posted at Stone Ridge Drive in a westerly direction at Granite Drive.

β€œOur study determined that the intersection of Stone Ridge Drive and Granite Drive is an official school bus stop,” Brown wrote. β€œDue to the concerns for the safety of school children at this intersection, the department concluded that one additional stop sign was warranted.”
