[POLL] Do You Agree With Supreme Court's Decision In Favor Of Health Care Law?
The ruling upholds the controversial "individual mandate" clause that requires everyone to buy health insurance.

In an eagerly awaited decision, the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of President Obama's health care law, with Chief Justice John Roberts the surprise swing vote.
The Affordable Care Act was passed 5-4 in a ruling released Thursday morning, with the controversial "individual mandate" in place.
Democrat Mark Schwager, a doctor and candidate for the state House Dist. 30 seat, was pleased with the ruling, particularly in light of what he called Rhode Island's unique position with regard to implementing the law.

"We were the first state in the county to receive a $58 million federal grant" to set up a health care exchange, he said. "We've really got the pieces for probably one of the best health care exchanges in the country."

"If you look at the thing as a whole and the government says you have to have health insurance, I can't see that's constitutional," he said. "I guess what they're doing there ... is pass it and get the young workers to pay for it. And for me it's good, because I'm on Medicare."
Bill Greene, who lives on Somerset Street, said Thursday he's been reading about the ruling to figure out what it will mean.
"I know I have to buy insurance to buy a car. I have to have insurance if I want a home loan," he said. Still, he said he wasn't in favor of the law. "I didn't like the mandate."
He continued, "I think we're going to have to wait and see what comes out of this."
