Rocky Hill Boys Lacrosse Team Captures Title
In a close match with Falmouth Academy, Rocky Hill's defense kept Falmouth at bay in the final minutes of the SENE championship game.
After falling to Falmouth in two regular season games, players wanted to prove that they had what it took to beat their rivals. They followed through on that goal, with a 10-9 victory on May 20th.
Rocky Hill scored first, with a goal each by Andrew Nota and Ben Hardy. At the end of the first quarter, however, Falmouth scored four goals and another at the beginning of the second quarter.
Rocky Hill retaliated as Joe Jordan scored three and Andrew Nota scored two, making the score 7-6 at halftime. The third quarter had been Rocky Hill’s weak point throughout the season, but the team showed its determination by shutting Falmouth out in that quarter. In addition to the defensive efforts, Jordan and Nota each scored a goal in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 9-6.

After Falmouth scored a goal in the fourth quarter, Nota scored his fourth of the game to keep the lead at 3. Falmouth tried to surge ahead at the end, but it was too little too late as Rocky Hill took home the SENE championship title with a final score of 10-9.
According to Nick Barker, the head coach of the team and Rocky Hill’s high school English teacher, “Yanni Rozes made some huge saves (17 on the afternoon) and timely clears in the net, while Ryan Gilbane worked relentlessly to limit Falmouth's all-star attackman.” Along with the impressive offense, Rozes, Gilbane and the other defenders were instrumental in holding off Falmouth’s attacks.
