Rogers Rolls Over Avengers, 45-12

The Homecoming loss continues a disappointing season.

The East Greenwich Avengers Football team lost in their annual Homecoming game to the Rogers High School Vikings, 45-12. The Avengers fall to 3-4 on the season.

“They were relentless,” said senior Captain Kevin Mason. “On the offensive side, Rogers spread out the field with their elusive and powerful running backs and a strong down-field passing threat.”

Rogers was also able to counter their explosive offense with a rock-solid defense. The Vikings had the Avengers shut out at the half but gave up two touchdowns at the end of the fourth quarter. The Vikings D was also able to intercept an Andrew Miner pass and run it 60-yards for a touchdown.

“We have to learn from this game and get better,” said junior corner back Kyle Palmer. The Avengers will get a chance to put those words into action next Saturday, Nov. 12, when they play in Providence against the Moses Brown Quakers.

EG touchdowns: Peter Hunziker 14-yard pass from Andrew Miner (kick failed); Kyle Palmer 31-yard pass from Dan Miner (kick failed).
