Rok Bar N Grill To Open At Post Office Cafe Site

Steve Marra didn't live to see it, but the restaurant concept he dreamed of with Brandon Sweet – general manager of Waterplace Restaurant – moved one step closer to reality Monday night, when the Town Council approved transfer of the Post Office Cafe's liquor license to Rok Bar n Grill at the same site.

Sweet said he hopes the rock-and-roll-themed restaurant will open in mid- to late-September. It will be a family-friendly place, he told council members.

“We’re looking to have a little something for everybody,” Sweet said. The menu will include salads, sandwiches, gourmet burgers, and children's meals according to a discription that accompanied Sweet's application.

The application included victualling and entertainment permissions. Sweet said the only entertainment would be d.j.'s, no live bands.

The restaurant will use valet parking. There's parking on the side of the building and Sweet said he's in talks with the owners of Gencorp across Main Street for access to their front and back parking spaces.

The Town Council voted 5-0 (with brand new member Brad Bishop, late of the Planning Board) to approve the license transfer.

The building will continue to be owned by the Marra Restaurant Group.
